Friday Night – Twilight Race

Twilight races in Table bay are a truly exceptional experience. This year it was made even more memorable with a display by the silver falcons. The cloud base was very low not giving them much room but they still managed a breath taking aerial display over the bay.

The racing got underway at 18:00. Slightly later than most twilight races. This meant that a good portion would be returning to the docks in the dark. Light winds gave most of the fleet the opportunity to make use of their spinnakers. The skipper on Thunderchild however decided against it for safety concerns as we had very few able deckhands on board. We finished in a respectable 14^th place out of 18 participants.

Saturday – Pursuit format

Thunderchild had the second highest TCF in the fleet meaning that we only started the race when most of the fleet already was already in sight of the second marker. Milpark flyer, the first boat to start was already a full 29 minutes into the race at that point.

Thunderchild managed a very impressive 5^th place out of the 18 competitors, the most notable leg being the Harken to Woodbridge leg. Thunderchild managed to pass a total of 5 competitors
